Fall is my favorite time of year ! Leaves start changing colors and the smell of pumpkin spice is in the air.
Yes I will admit that I go a little pumpkin crazy around this time of year. From my pumpkin spice lattes at Starbucks to my pumpkin fresh smelling car. During this time I like to go to my local pumpkin patch and pick the most pretty pumpkin to decorate. My boyfriend and I actually had our first date at a pumpkin patch <3 (that’s a story for another post)
So you can guess why I love this time of year.
I usually tend to carve out pumpkins but this year I decided to paint it. This inspiration came from a Pinterest post I found while browsing. Not bad for my first try ! I even had all the colors handy and this simple diy only cost me the price of pumpkin ($4)
The Anastasia Beverly eye shadows are pricey but so worth it. I wanted to add warm tone colors to my collection and I opted for these 4. Each of the eye shadows are $12 with a total of $48 + taxes & shipping.
The four colors in the pan are:
Soft gold -shimmery
Sangria – shimmery
Burnt Orange – matte finish
Red Earth – matte finish
My favorites out of the four are sangria and burnt orange. These two colors are really pigmented and go perfect together.
What are your favorite colors? Any fall decorating DIY that your into?
I’ve definitely kept my blog on the back burner for quite some time. I’ve been too into Netflix for the past couple of months that I haven’t made the time to blog.
I had forgotten how much I enjoyed taking blog pictures and posting. However, for this particular post the picture isn’t a Melly exclusive (bare with me). I’m gradually getting back into blogging and I wanted to start off by posting a Motivational Monday Post. Recently, theres been a lot on my mind about future goals and plans. One in particular is that I’ve been very indecisive about going back to school and getting my Masters. I get worried about committing another 2-3 years while working a full-time job. As I was recently browsing brainy quotes for inspiration for my motivational monday quotes. I came across one in particular that really spoke to me about what I’ve been going through lately.
“It always seems impossible until its done” -Nelson Mandela
This quote felt so perfect and I felt so inspired to write about it. I have had a lot self doubt about going back to school and blogging, to me it seems impossible and something that will require a lot of patience and time. Time that I’m not sure Ill have especially while working a full-time job. But then I start to think about how much Ill benefit in the long run if I got my masters and it makes me think otherwise. I also think about how much blogging helped me in spending more time away from watching too many Netflix shows. It was a nice distraction while it lasted and I stopped because I just wasn’t into it anymore.
A lot of the times I felt like it took up to much time and to be honest I didn’t think that I had any readers. But one day my boyfriend stumbled upon my blog and noticed that I hadn’t posted in a while and he said that he missed reading my posts. From then, I started to think about how I just left my blog and I knew wanted to start to write again. So I gradually started to take interest again by taking blog pictures and thinking about new posts for the week.
It like the quote states that it always seems impossible until its done.
I’m really excited to have this week off to attend different events. My sister is turning 24 and is also getting married this Thursday.
Its been different at home since my sister moved out a couple of weeks ago. I miss being able to talk to her face to face about daily things. It took some adjustment but I’m really happy about her new life out in Palm Desert. ♡ It turns out, my sister isn’t the only one having a wedding this year. My cousin will be getting married in October and we plan to attend her bridal shower this weekend. I love attending weddings because they are a lot of fun and its nice to see all the details in decorations. Its also beautiful thought knowing that they’ve found the person they want to spend the rest of their life with.
Today, I spent the day buying wedding gifts and getting pampered with my mom. We got our nails and eyebrows done at Happy Nails and Kaya Threading. Minutes after getting a manicure, I managed to chip 3 of nails. I was really sad that I wasn’t patient enough to let them dry properly. My mother insisted I go back and get it fixed but I just left it because it was my own fault. I’ve been wanting to spruce up my outfits with some cute accessories. About a couple of weeks ago I went on my own shopping trip to Forever 21. With less than $12 I was able to purchase a set of 3 small bows, one large pink bow, and 5 pairs of earrings. What a deal! These bows and earrings are perfect with any back to school or work outfit.

Its been a long time since I’ve updated this blog. A lot of things have been going on that I haven’t been able to schedule time for blogging. I will try to get into the rhythm of posting consistently as I adjust to my new work schedule and lifestyle.
This past month, I attended Comic Con with my boyfriend from July 21st-23rd. We arrived in San Diego on Thursday, July 21st in the afternoon. Once there, we went to a local grocery store and did some shopping. After shopping, we checked in at our place and made our way to the convention to register for the next day. Our goal was to come back at midnight to make line in hopes of getting into the Game of Thrones signing. We actually didn’t get to the convention until Friday 3 am and by then the lines were already full. We still waited in line, in hopes that we might get into a different autograph signing. As we got closer to the front, we didn’t exactly get into anything worth mentioning.
We then went to check out the convention before our volunteer shift. After our shift ended, we went out to eat with friends and came back to watch the autograph signing of Game of Thrones. The area got really packed quickly. If you’ve never been to comic con during this time then prepare for no movement. Once, Game of thrones comes out there is zero movement from the crowd, everyone watches those 100 lucky individuals get an exclusive signed autograph poster. (Next year it will be us)
On Saturday, I managed to snag this cute Cinema Tsum Tsum set. Isn’t this just adorable?? I can’t get over how cute this set is! My boyfriend was able to get the coolest Star Wars skateboard deck from Santa Cruz Skateboards.
I really can’t wait to see what next year’s Comic Con will have in store. Overall, our trip was a success! We had a wonderful time getting through the con together. Waiting in line after line wouldn’t be as fun without my boyfriend by side ♡
Hello Lovely Readers ♡
I recently visited Zion National Park for the first time and it was truly an unforgettable experience. To get there it was about 6 hours direct. The whole trip itself took us longer because we made a pit stop in Vegas to eat and gamble. We had lunch at this Taco place next to O Sheas in the flamingo. I can’t remember the name for the life of me but I do remember it being really tasty and the tacos were half off. THANK YOU taco tuesday!
After lunch, we went over to the Casino Royale and did a bit of gambling there. I usually like to go to the blackjack table’s and win the big bucks but this time I wanted to try the slots. Who would have thought that I would have won over $100 on a slot machine!
After Vegas, we made our way to the Adventure Pad which is a cute little pad in Virgin, Utah only 20 minutes from the park. Our stay here was very comfortable and if we ever visit the park again we’d stay here again. Our hiking began early on the second day and took the first shuttle to the 6th stop (Grotto). From there we made it across the bridge and began our journey to the top of Angel’s Landing.
The hike uphill was a winding path and it was extremely difficult. It was hard to talk and hike at the same time because I was having a hard time catching my breath. The last time I did any actual exercise was back during winter quarter which was a little over 10 weeks. I was completely out of shape and nowhere near ready to do this hike and on top of that I was terrified. But we didn’t come all the way to Utah to miss it. So I fought through it all and just kept pushing through until we made it to the top.
Once at the top, the view of the canyon was simply breathtaking! To be honest I’m glad I took the risk even though I was extremely out of shape.
Duration: 3-5 hours
Length of Trail: 2.4 miles one way
Rating: Strenuous hiking with uphill elevation and narrow paths. WARNING: Not for those with fear of heights.
What are your favorite hikes at Zion?
